FAQs

Do you do Valuations and Appraisals for insurance?

Every Golden By Design piece comes with an appraisal that includes detailed descriptions of the item, clear photos and a replacement value to pass on to your insurance company.

Can I visit your studio?

Yes! I operate by appointment only. If you would like to come to discuss a custom design or try on pieces from stock, please contact me to schedule an appointment

What types of metals do work with?

I work with all precious metals. Yellow, white and rose gold in 9ct and 18ct, Platinum, Palladium and Sterling Silver.

How do I know the diamonds and gemstones are genuine?

I use only well established and trusted suppliers that in most cases I have worked with for over 10 years. Based in New Zealand and Australia, with trusted industry recognition. All diamonds purchased over 0.50ct will come with a GIA Certificate and lot number that can be searched on the GIA website below. Certificates are supplied for coloured gemstone of particular value or provenance also.

Are your diamonds conflict free?

In New Zealand we adhere to the strict guidelines set out in the Kimberly Process. Our Diamond Merchants trade in compliance with the Kimberly Process to help prevent the illegal diamond trade.

What can I do with my old jewellery?

If you have old jewellery lying around that you’re not wearing, it can be used to make a custom piece! Diamonds, gemstones and a lot of precious metals can be use in creating something new to wear and love.

Why is my silver jewellery changing colour?

This is very common for silver jewellery and it is called tarnishing. The good news is that tarnish only occurs on the surface and can be polished away or removed with a good silver dip. If you want your white metal jewellery to not tarnish, opt for white gold or platinum- neither of these metals will tarnish.

How long does it take to make a Custom Design?

In most cases allow up to 3-5 weeks from start to finish, sometimes even quicker dependant on the design! Once we have finalised the design, I can give a good indication of when you can expect the final product. In the odd case a particular gemstone may be harder to source and take a little longer but I will advise you of this in such a situation.
